Woohoo, I got to design my first movie poster!
The director of Dearest Jane - John Lerchen, sent me an email saying that he liked the minimal style I used in some of my other movie posters and wanted something similar for this film. I only had the film trailer and a summary of the plot to work from but this was enough for me to grasp the overall feel of the film. So after throwing some ideas around and doing some rough sketches, John and I agreed that the iconic tree featured in the movie should be part of the poster as well as a reference to letters.
I think the minimal tranquility and calming warm colours of the poster works well and suits the emotion conveyed in the film. Here's the finished design.
